Malinda Williams is Tomboy Chic

During my internship at mystyle.com I got a chance to interview a few wonderful actresses. I'm going to post a few of the stories here. The first is with Malinda Williams and yes she looks like a little doll in person :D

To outsiders it may seem as though starlet Malinda Williams has always been effortlessly stylish. However, in her younger years she wasn't always so glamourous "well growing up I was kind of tomboy so I never wore dresses," said Williams. "So, now that I’m a woman I feel that there is a little bit of an edge to it because I feel that I still have a little bit of that tomboy in me."

Since tuning in to her inner-fashionista, Williams likes to splurge on luxurious bags... a Dooney & Bourke Python Bag to be exact. "It's my baby," she raved. "Listen, I walk in the room and see women just stop and look. It's stunning. And that’s what I see when I walk in the room the women are stunned and then I go about my business. But yeah, that’s my latest splurge I told my husband that its my new boo," laughed Williams.

When it comes to finding a great deal Williams knows how to invest wisely "Oh, my Mabelline great lash mascara. That’s it for me I'm not going to the department store for my mascara".

Check Malinda out in her new film "Nailed" with Jessica Biel.

OSCARS: best dressed

It was really exciting to see the Alteir Versace gown tonight on Marisa Tomei after spotting it on the Versace website last year. The pleats on the grey gown suited her figure perfectly.

Freida Pinto also stunned in a gorgeous one-armed blue gown by John Galliano.

Sarah Jessica Parker looked fabulous in a white Dior Haute Couture gown.

and Natalie Portman looked so young in her pink gown.

Erin Fetherston

Erin Fetherston's fall 2009 ready to wear collection makes me smile. It's breathtaking, romantic, and mystical all wrapped in one . There are dozens of volominous skirts, cigarette pants, striped stockings, bows and dress shirts. Her pieces are perfect for the twenty something year olds who are fond of "Alice and Wonderland" and sophisticated cocktail parties. Give me your ideas of Fetherston's work below.

Trend Alert: Cut outs

It might be too early to make assumptions, but after looking at collections from Alexander Wang, Rachel Roy and Vena Cava it seems that cut outs of any sort will be a big hit in the seasons to come. If so, I'm ecstatic. Ever since Rihanna wore that gorgeous silver dress with cut outs to the VMAs I've been waiting for my chance to wear a carbon copy. Take a look at the pieces from the Spring 2009 and Fall 2009 collections below.

Shoe Frenzy

With the recent release of "Miracle at Santa Ana", I began to surf youtube for famous Spike Lee moments. Then I landed on this jewel:

I've never... ever felt so passionate about my shoes to the point where I'd throw a fit or contemplate beating someone up because they stepped on them. But, then again I don't always wear beauties like these:
Casadei Lace Up Gladiator Boot

Gucci Spring 2009 Heels

Balenciaga Leather Peep Toe Heels

Jeffrey Campbell Victor Bootie

Sam Edelman Simona Oxford

Gucci Spring 2009 Heel

disclaimer: I'd never beat someone up lol

Going Green

Green has been making a stunning appearance on the red carpet; leading me to think it's the hottest color of the season. While singer Adele wears a rich lime green overcoat, actress Jennifer Connelly dons a shimmering emerald green mini dress by Balmain. No matter what the shade is, keep in mind that you'll look clean and pristine while sporting green.

Reasons To Heart Vashtie Kola

Besides throwing what appears to be amazing parties in New York (hopefully I'll get to go to one soon), and as she says "making pretty things" ex. Child Rebels Soldiers "Us Placers" video, she has her own fashion line. The bulk of the collection are graphic t-shirts dedicated to showcasing the brand name "Violette". However, the line captured my eyes and heart when I saw this:

The shirt displays a clever play on words and features one of my favorite supermodel's Naomi Campbell.

Fall in love here

Do the Blair Waldorf

Since Gossip Girl introduced me to Blair Waldorf and her headbands, I have been on a mission start a collection of my own. They can correct any bad hair day and add a splash of style to a bland outfit. You can see my rendition of the Queen Bee's signature stye below.

Take a look at my favorite headbands.

Michelle Obama Covers Vogue

After following President Obama's journey to the White House, I have become the biggest fan of Michelle Obama.

With the help of Fashionista, it's been brought to my attention that she [Obama] has finally found her place on the cover of Vogue.

The First Lady looks stunning in a fuschia dress by Jason Wu

I'm not sure about you but, I'm not walking to get my copy. I'm running.

If you need your Obama fix at this very moment click here to get a glimpse of the story.

Plastic Proves to be Friend or Foe?

When it comes to plastic my first thoughts are "Recycle it". When it comes to fashion and plastic my thoughts are always "Trash it".

As a child I witnessed the most horrendus sight, plastic heels in the summer time. Can you imagine it? A pair of plastic pumps were wrapped around this woman's feet on a scolding hot day!

To say the least they didn't remind me of Cinderalla's sparkling ticket to marriage.

However, Chanel has proved that one mans trash is another mans treasure. Just take a look at Freida Pinto's ensemble from their Resort 2009 collection. The plastic sleeves embellished with dainty flowers lend a touch of elegance to the subtle LBD. Not convinced yet? Check out Thandie Newton.

I don't think I'll ever fancy plastic heels, however frocks that feature plastic details can do no harm.

Me and Mrs. Jones

If we have the same taste in style, you'll agree that it is quite normal to have an obsession with Genevieve Jones. This girl is always dashing; she has natural beauty and a great eye when it comes to all things au'courant. So when you already have a mass collection of coveted items in your closet what should you do next?

A. Create A line of your own
B. Keep looking fabulous
C. Inspire others
D. All of the above

I'm sure you had no problem figuring out the answer is "D. All of the above" (Don't you just love those on Midterms)

This is probably old news to most. However if you aren't already in the know get ready to salivate. The pieces from her second collection are AMAZING.

The University is my closet.

The Professors are the decision makers in fashion: Marc Jacobs, Uncle Karl (Lagerfeld), Stella McCartney etc. And the Text comes from Conde Nast and Hearst.

These are the musings of a proFASHIONal student and an aspiring fashion editor. I hope you enjoy my posts.
